Mobasher Niqui (Iran)
Mobasher Niqui (*1984) is an architect working in traverse between architecture, art and design with the main focus on the architecture of the city and the urban/social transformations. (Having origins in Mahallat) He lives and practices in Tehran as a local where on 2012 he founded mbnq.studio a research-based project space and architectural practice.
A graduate of EPFL in Lausanne and University of Tehran in architecture. He directed UTP; and co-initiated Fablab II workshop series focusing on the digital and interactive prototyping in architecture at University of Tehran on 2013-14.
On 2014 he co-founded Mosha collective for an independent research project which was exhibited at 15th Venice Biennale at Palazzo Bembo and 1st Tehran architecture biennale on 2016. The project investigates foundations of common space and the contemporary condition of apartments and forms of living in Tehran. His articles has been published in Hamshahri Memari and the most recent is going to appear in SanRocco Magazine’s next issue Pure Beauty.
He now teaches as a professor in practice at Pars University a local university in Tehran conducting a bachelor design studio in a research on the contemporary building typologies and their emergence in Tehran.
The practice of architecture suffers from a foundational lightness, being very instrumental.Architects could more contemplate to what they are contributing. And the practice could go towards a way to cultivate “new meanings“ inside the existing commissions.
